Platform Fees and Launch Process
A defined operating budget for a Cayman hedge fund or digital asset fund. CV5 provides fund-platform and company management infrastructure; your investment manager retains responsibility for the strategy and portfolio.
Standard Platform Fees
- Launch fee
- US$9,500 fixed for a standard platform launch.
- Ongoing platform fee
- 0.25% per annum, subject to a minimum of US$4,950 per month per segregated portfolio.
- Pause arrangement
- US$1,500 per month where a pause is agreed. Eligibility, duration and continuing obligations must be documented.
- Wind-down fee
- US$12,500 for a standard wind-down. Outstanding audit and other closure expenses must also be reserved.
Standard pricing is subject to the agreed engagement and fund documentation. Additional structures, non-standard services and exceptional complexity require an agreed scope. The investment management entity is a separate workstream and is not included in the fund launch fee.
What the Platform Fee Includes
- Fund administration, agreed NAV production, transfer agency, investor onboarding and investor/manager portal.
- Registered office, company secretarial support, independent directors and board support.
- AMLCO, MLRO and Deputy MLRO functions, agreed AML policies, procedures and training.
- FATCA/CRS reporting and Principal Point of Contact services.
- Standard fund government and CIMA fees, annual returns, Fund Annual Return support and applicable notification filings.
- Financial statement preparation and audit coordination support.
Costs to Budget Separately
The independent annual audit is separately charged. Audit coordination and financial statement support do not mean that the auditor's fee is included.
- Bank account charges and transaction fees.
- Brokerage, execution, financing, margin and trading charges.
- Custody, exchange and strategy-specific technology charges.
- Investment manager formation, registration and operating costs.
- Bespoke work, exceptional transactions and additional services outside the agreed scope.
The manager's management and performance fees are governed by the fund documents and are separate from CV5's platform fees. CV5 does not allocate capital or take a share of strategy profits.
Illustrative Annual Platform Charge
These illustrations assume a constant fund asset value for a full year and apply the standard annual rate and monthly minimum. They exclude launch, audit and all separately charged costs. Actual accruals follow the fund documents.
| Fund assets | 0.25% annual calculation | Annual platform charge after minimum | Platform charge as % of assets |
|---|---|---|---|
| US$1 million | US$2,500 | US$59,400 | 5.94% |
| US$5 million | US$12,500 | US$59,400 | 1.188% |
| US$10 million | US$25,000 | US$59,400 | 0.594% |
| US$25 million | US$62,500 | US$62,500 | 0.25% |
The minimum ceases to dominate the annual illustration at approximately US$23.76 million. This is not a total expense ratio or a platform-versus-standalone break-even figure. A small launch should be assessed against a credible operating budget and capital-raising plan.
When Fees Commence
Platform fees commence on the earlier of fund launch or six weeks after engagement, under the standard engagement terms. If the fund has not launched after sixteen weeks and fees remain unpaid, CV5 may close the project. The signed engagement governs the specific arrangement.
Launch Process and Dependencies
- Platform assessment: submit strategy, manager details, launch assets, target investors and intended timing.
- Fund terms and documentation: agree structure, dealing terms, fees, governance and service-provider scope.
- Infrastructure and onboarding: complete manager and investor checks, regulatory filings and approved banking, custody and trading arrangements.
- Launch readiness: confirm documentation, accounts, controls and initial subscriptions are ready before operations commence.
Launch is typically targeted within 3–4 weeks once requirements are ready. Bank, custodian, exchange and broker acceptance can extend the timetable. No account opening or launch date is guaranteed.
Prepare Your Fund Terms Questionnaire
Have your proposed strategy, manager jurisdiction and regulatory status, launch assets, investor jurisdictions, dealing and liquidity terms, management/performance fees and intended counterparties available. CV5 reviews the submission to assess platform fit and identify the next workstreams. Submission does not constitute acceptance or a launch commitment.
